Lake Eildon and Mansfield – A recount of beautiful memories

As the cold, winterly rain and winds sweep through Melbourne, and when there isn’t much travelling to do in between lockdowns, I recall some lovely memories of a trip that me and my family made during the last Autumn.

Autumn is always beautiful here in Melbourne and there are some spectacular towns and places that should never be missed during this beautiful season and Mansfield is just one of them.

Mansfield

Approximately about 180Km north east of Melbourne lies this historical rural town. It has its pride showing off a wonderful collection of autumn leaves that attract many tourists during the season.

For anybody who wants a little escape from the everyday hustle and bustle of life, this would be a perfect place for a restful vacation. The town itself is well facilitated with everything that the tourists would need, keeping your mind at ease, especially when travelling with little ones.

Beautiful sunshine, soothing temperatures and blue skies are just about everything you’ll want for a memorable journey in this part of the state.

In and around Mansfield, there are plenty of fun activities you’ll love to do. Camping , hiking, bike riding ,kayaking and bush walking , just a few to name.

Lake eildon

Not very far from Mansfield, is this magnificent lake that you’ll be amazed to look at in every point of view. It is surrounded by the mighty Lake Eildon national park which is not only rich in lush green vegetation but also it offers heaps of relaxation activities the whole family can do such as bush walking , camping, kayaking and living in a houseboat.

Lake Eildon is full of many types of boats. Renting a houseboat is highly popular in lake Eildon that would give a whole new experience of living in a boat for a few days and of course one of the best things that we enjoyed was to hire a family boat for a few hours and having a boat ride around this beautiful lake while exploring its surroundings.

This is definitely one of the most beautiful waterfalls I’ve seen in Melbourne. Situated on an easy access path from lake Eildon, Snobs creek waterfall has everything that the beautiful nature has to offer.

My kids loved the short nature walk along the cascades up to the point where the waterfall begins with a loud noise and a spray mist of water. We all enjoyed the pretty sight of this wonderful waterfall and I must say this is something never to be missed out in you next trip to lake Eildon and Mansfield area.

I know this is just a hand full of places and activities we experienced in our short two-day trip. But, there are heaps more of beautiful places to see and things to do around here. Leaving rest of the explorations to our next trip, I’d like to say thank you for visiting my blog and hope it helped you with some lovely ideas for your next very special family trip.

Enjoy……and as always, wish you all, happy travelling and take care. 🙂

  1. Hi, Indi, it’s been a while! I love the views of Lake Eildon, it certainly looks like an amazing place to explore and try out all sorts of water sports during the warm summer month! August is upon us and it’s just a few more weeks before the kids go back to school. That’s why we are trying to make the most of those last sunny days, although, it’s been raining quite a lot 🙂 Thanks for sharing and have a nice day 🙂 Aiva xx
